Oh deer, what a pain!

I've finally finished my nightmare of a deer (sorry for the terrible pun):

The amount of different colours in a small space and the breaks between blocks of colour made him a bit of a pain to sew but I really loved the flowery design.  Plus it was perfect colours for my mum as he's going to be a patch on my mum's Christmas present - I'm going to make her a crochet hook holder, but I'm a little bit unsure as to how I'm going to make it.  I'm thinking of borrowing this design from Life According to Miss Vonkysmeed:

I love the case design with the little pocket and curved flaps plus I have a really nice snail shaped button to use.  It should also be a learning point as I have never incorporated a zip like that!  I'm planning to incorporate Mr. Deer on the back...

I've made another Christmas present, for my other granny.  I decided to make the same pin cushion and thread catcher:

I fell in love with the bright animal print in the shop - it makes me smile!!  I got a lot quicker and more accurate this time round, definitely an improvement.  Plus how cute is that candy dish - my boss gave it to me as a Christmas present last year.

Talking of candy and sweet stuff, tomorrow we are having a bake sale at work as a fundraiser for one of my colleagues who is doing the Olympic distance in the London Triathlon (she is mad!) for UK Youth.  I have made some banana and walnut muffins:

OK so many is a minor understatement - I think I've made enough right???
